Dear Colleagues,
it is our pleasure to invite you to join our 10th Erasmus Staff Training Week at the Gdańsk Tech Library. Our staff week’s theme in 2026 will be “The university library as the heart of an academic community”. Our event will be organized in the Gdańsk Tech Library, Gdańsk, Poland, from 11th to 15th of May, 2026.
We would discuss the following topics: • How to train and assist the faculty to teach information literacy in their courses – mission impossible? • Faculty-librarian collaboration for developing information literacy of university students. • Academic library users or non-users: students, faculty, staff? • How do university libraries facilitate the acquisition of information to enhance the level of educational services at a university? • Physical space of academic libraries – is it still relevant in the age of AI? • Has the role of the university library changed over the years? • Contemplating the Future for libraries as dynamic instruments of education and a central place for study and research • The role of AI in library services (e.g. Ex Libris Primo library platform (search engine working within the Alma system) Research Assistant, 24/7 AI-Powered Chatbots/Assistants to assist library users with their queries, others).
We cordially invite all academic librarians to join us at Gdańsk University of Technology Library for our 10th International Staff Week 2026. Enclosed you will soon find the Erasmus Staff Week work and social program (please, note that this schedule is preliminary and subject to change).
Participants are supposed to prepare a 20-minute presentation on a subject fitting into this year’s theme; alternatively, they can give a presentation about the libraries they work at on everyday basis.
