Bordered by the province of Istanbul and the Marmara Sea to the west, the Black Sea to the north, the province of Sakarya to the east, the province of Bursa to the south and the province of Yalova to the southwest, Kocaeli is one of the most important cities of Turkey by having many artifacts including; mosques, manor houses, and a clock tower located in the city center. The city offers a variety of activity opportunities with its silted beach and Kartepe Ski Center. Kocaeli University has many partnerships with international universities around the world by means of Erasmus+ since 2004.
