Karadeniz Technical University: An Overview
Founded as a public university on the 20th of May, 1955, in Trabzon, Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) is the fourth oldest university in Turkey. KTU has approximately 30000 students studying at short cycle, bachelor, master and PhD levels. With about 90 departments in 12 faculties, 6 institutes and about 2100 teaching staff, KTU is one of the leading higher education institutions in Turkey.
Our university is located right next to the international airport on the Black Sea shore. The main campus, with its social and scientific facilities, is an outstanding site set in a wonderful nature, overlooking the Black Sea.
Internationalisation and International Cooperation
Since its establishment, KTU is actively involved in international cooperation. International activities are facilitated and coordinated by the International Relations Office, which is structured in 3 separate units including Office of Exchange Programmes, Office of Internationalisation, and Office of International Student Affairs.
In a wide range of fields and in the framework of international exchange programmes, our university collaborates with 150 partner institutions and has more than 200 cooperation agreements with European higher education institutions. There are nearly 400 mobilities every year within Erasmus+ Programme, considering the total number of outgoing mobilities (incoming mobilities included).
