Description

The Department of Foreign Relations at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (Tbilisi, Georgia) is pleased to announce its 5th International Staff Week, which will be held face-to-face from the 6th to 10th of February, 2023.

The overarching theme of the event will be “responsive management in the time of uncertainties”, which we would like to explore from the perspectives of university internationalization and civic engagement/third mission.

The scope and functions in the area of university administration have changed dramatically. There is a critical need in the field for officers who can work effectively under challenging, fast-changing circumstances, in online mode and within deadline-pressed environments. This 5-day event will cover two broad areas of university management (focusing on internationalization and its quality implications and civic engagement and its quality implications) with an emphasis on how to navigate effectively and efficiently through disruptive change, address performance management challenges, and drive civic engagement while sustaining the core function of the offices.

Who is it for?

The 5th ISW is designed for administrative staff of the international relations, quality assurance and/or strategy or institutional governance offices and officers (including deans and deputy deans), or representatives of units that are in charge of internationalization, study abroad, quality assurance and civic engagement/third mission of the university both at central and faculty/departmental levels. Participants are expected to actively engage in discussions, share experiences and practices and possibly be open to new cooperation bonds.

Programme

Engaging schedule of face-to-face activities will offer participants a wide variety of presentations, discussions and insights on TSU’s strategic development as well as everyday life. 5 days of great experience is guaranteed including the topics of internationalization, quality assurance and civic engagement (offered in the format to separate tracks – a) internationalization and its quality implications and b) civic engagement its quality implications). The participants will indulge in Georgian culture and gastronomy as part of the social program, which among other things will include an unforgettable celebrations dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the foundation of Tbilisi State University (February 8th).

Detailed programme of the 5th ISW will be provided to the selected participants.

Funding

As a non-EU university, we do not receive any financial support through ERASMUS or any other source to provide funding for the participants. Therefore, those interested and eligible should cover the cost of travel, accommodation, and some of the meals. Where applicable, the funding might be available from the Erasmus+ K107 or K171 grant distributed by the home university. We invite candidates to check the availability of such funding with their home institution. Please note that the Erasmus+ programme requires the home and host universities to have signed an Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA) before the grant can be obtained. Please consult with your International Relations and/or ERASMUS offices in order to check the availability of IIA between your home institution and TSU.
