The Department of Foreign Relations at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, situated in Tbilisi, Georgia, is delighted to announce its 8th International Staff Week, scheduled for face-to-face interaction from October 7th to 11th, 2024.

What?

The overarching theme of this event will revolve around "Perspectives and Challenges of International Exchange Programs: from both academic and administrative perspectives." We eagerly anticipate engaging in discussions pertaining to fostering collaboration between European and non-European universities, leveraging our extensive experience in cooperation with various international academic foundations and organizations, and facilitating the exchange of academic knowledge and best practices. Moreover, we aim to strengthen connections among professionals in the international higher education community.

The event will comprise diverse sessions covering topics such as internationalization strategy, benchmarks of higher education institutions, and the impact of student and staff mobility on individual and professional levels. Furthermore, the upcoming staff week will offer networking opportunities and explore avenues for future institutional collaboration.

Who is it for?

This event primarily targets administrative staff from partner and non-partner universities worldwide, operating at both central and faculty/departmental levels, as well as governance offices and officers (including deans and deputy deans), and representatives of units responsible for internationalization. Academic staff are also welcome, with separate tracks and teaching activities tailored to their needs.

Active participation in discussions, sharing experiences, and fostering potential collaborations are expected from both administrative and academic attendees.

Participants who attend the program fully will receive Certificates of Attendance.

Programme

The comprehensive five-day schedule will feature a diverse range of presentations, discussions, and insights into the impact of mobility programs on the internationalization of higher education. Concurrently, teaching activities will be incorporated into the agenda, particularly for those benefiting from STA mobility tracks within ERASMUS+ ICM K171 projects. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Georgian culture and savor its exceptional cuisine as part of the social program, which includes an unforgettable excursion outside the capital city.

A detailed program of the 8th ISW will be provided to selected participants.

Funding

Given that our university does not receive financial or organizational support from ERASMUS+ or other sources for participant funding, interested and eligible individuals should be prepared to cover travel, accommodation, and some meal expenses.

Funding may be available through Erasmus+ ICM K171 or K131 projects distributed by the home university, and candidates are encouraged to inquire about its availability. It is important to note that participation in the Erasmus+ program requires the home and host universities to have signed an Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA). Therefore, candidates should consult their International Relations and/or ERASMUS offices to ensure the availability of an IIA between their home institution and TSU.

Registration should be done through the following link:

The deadline for registration is Friday, September 20th, 2024.

A participation fee of 150 euros will cover a welcome package, several meals, and the social program outlined in the program.

The working language of the event is English, with a recommended communication level of at least B2 according to CEFR.

The group size is limited to a maximum of 50 participants, with a maximum of three individuals from one institution.
