English for Admin Staff

The English for Admin Staff course is an intensive professional training course for administrative staff working in Higher Education Institutions who need English to regularly interact effectively with students and colleagues.

Lesson modules include:

- AI in Higher Education - Artificial Intelligence vs Academic Integrity

- Giving Presentations and Speaking in Public

- Holding Meetings and Dealing with Clients

- Non-Verbal Communication

- Making your Institution More Inclusive for SEN students

- Getting Across the Right Message: Politeness and Pragmatics in Emails and Phone Calls

- Student Motivation and Wellbeing

- Intercultural Awareness

- Sustainability in Educational Institutions

Objectives:

- Get up to date with Erasmus+ values in Education: Inclusivity; Digital Transformation; Sustainability.

- Manage communications and interact with students and staff more effectively.

- Be able to better decode and respond to oral and written messages (cross-cultural communication).

- Demonstrate increased control and flexibility over a range of grammatical structures and functions to communicate ideas for a range of purposes.

- Gain awareness of Irish culture and society through topical, interactive lessons.

- Establish contacts with teachers from a variety of education systems to facilitate future networking.

General Information

The lessons take place in mixed nationality groups at our school in Dublin, with no more than 14 students per class*. Our DELTA-trained teachers focus on providing participants with practical ready-to-use ideas and skills. In addition, there is always a space for participants to voice their own ideas and exchange practices with classmates. We also place a great emphasis on participants digging deeper into Irish culture, via safe discussion in our lessons and activities and excursions outside the classroom. Courses last for either 1 or 2 weeks and various accommodation options are available on request for participants throughout their stay.

*Group bookings in closed groups for a minimum of 7 people are available on request all-year-round outside of usual course dates, and such groups can tailor-make the course to satisfy the specific needs of the group.
