English for the Educational Workplace

English for the Educational Workplace is an intensive professional training course which equips participants to effectively manage day-to-day interactions requiring English language skills. Participants gain skills to communicate with peers, students, managers and external stakeholders with confidence and accuracy. The course includes practical workshops, role-plays and other applied exercises designed to develop a range of communicative skills, improve language usage and gain the functional vocabulary required to deal with direct interactions.

Who is it for?

Higher Education professionals working in an administrative role who need English to deal effectively with business partners and colleagues in a day-to-day capacity.

Course Content:

• Communication in the Modern Workplace

• Language Skills – Meetings and Reporting, Clarifying and Modification

• Language for Client Service

• Writing Techniques and Skills

• Interviewing and Mediation

• Heritage Tour and Job Shadowing in HEI Context

Minimum Level of English: B1 on the CEFR

 

Delivery: in person at our Galway school. One to one Online courses also available.

Social Programme:

Participants have the opportunity to book an activity package including a guided historical walking tour of Galway and a half-day excursion to a local area of scenic or historical interest such as Connemara or the Cliffs of Moher.

Accommodation Options: participants can book their own accommodation or apply for Atlantic accommodation – student apartments or host family. Accommodation prices available on request.
