English Language and Irish Culture: This course will help you to develop your confidence in English while also learning about Irish culture, traditions, and society. Content driven lessons are combined with language learning objectives to develop key communication skills. During this course you will examine key aspects of life in Ireland through presentations, tasks, research, songs and interaction with local people and the unique culture of this area in the West of Ireland. The course offers a valuable opportunity to improve your English fluency while building inter-cultural awareness through interactions with international colleagues.

 

Who is it for?

All staff, both administrative and academic, working in the Higher Education sector.

Course Content:

  • Engaging language classes to develop grammatical knowledge and build vocabulary.
  • Participation in communicative classes – building fluency with speaking activities.
  • Task or project-based learning using Irish Cultural topics to develop English language communication skills.
  • Cultural and Heritage Trips as a chaperoned group

Delivery: in person at our Galway school. One to one Online courses also available on request.

Social Programme:

Full-day tour to destination on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way such as  Connemara or the Cliffs of Moher. Afternoon activities including walking tour of Galway, language and culture workshops and social networking event. 

Accommodation Options: participants can book their own accommodation or apply for Atlantic accommodation – student apartments or host family. Accommodation prices available on request.
