The University of Augsburg and the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg warmly invite you to their first, co-hosted International Library Staff Week. The staff week will take place between 1st-5th July 2024 and has the overall theme of “Gateway to Library Transformation”. Dive deep into professional topics, meet colleagues and explore one of Germany’s oldest cities. Founded by the Romans, Augsburg was also awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 2019 for its unique water management system, created in the 13th century. This historical setting is the home of two innovative, outward-looking universities.
Themes
Transformation surrounds us – in libraries, institutions and societies as a whole. In the context of our universities library staff aim to transform these challenges into opportunities. Three areas in which libraries are currently being transformed have been selected for this staff week:
Library building projects
Open Access services
Artificial Intelligence (AI) in libraries
Additionally, shorter sessions will be arranged on subjects such as digitisation, special collections and information literacy. A variety of library tours and a day visit to Munich will also be included.
Requirements
As the working language will be English, we strongly recommend at least a B2 (CEFR) level in English communication.
All participants will be asked to contribute to the programme with a short presentation on one of the main topics above and we look forward to interesting exchanges and lively discussions.
Costs
Participants are expected to cover the costs for their own travel and accommodation and to make the necessary travel arrangements and reservations. The programme itself is free of charge.
Registration
The application deadline is Sunday, 31st March 2024. You will be notified by 15th April 2024 whether your application was successful.
