Hands-On Workshop on Grant Writing

In this training week, participants acquire the skills for writing successful research proposals to

pursue a career in academia. Starting with researching funding opportunities and assessing the

suitability of a project idea and the funding body, through the structure and content of applications

to the concrete design of individual sections, budget calculation and visualisation. Participants can

also bring along their own projects. Through the alternation of input, practical exercises and

discussion rounds, comprehensive skills are taught that are indispensable for an academic career.

Whom does it adress?

Late PhDs and Postdocs who plan to pursue an academic career or want to stay in academia.

Course Content

We will explore relevant topics like:  

- Research Funding in Germany and Europe

- Effecitve Tools for finding funding

- Funding guidelines and how to understand them

- Elaborate funding policy objectives and evaluation criteria

- Strucutre and content of a research proposal

- Budget calculation guidelines

- Tools and aids 

- Working with/on examples / Case Studies

Destination: Muenster

The course will be delivered at the beautiful city of Muenster/Germany (LivCom Award as most  liveable city!): Long and rich history, Bicycles, many green spots - and one of the largest universities in Germany.
