Higher Education Open Space

The HEOS 2015 will provide academics, administrative staff, students and stakeholder representatives an open, innovative and creative space for discussion on joint approaches to face challenges in higher education. It also aims to contribute in a concrete way to the modernisation of higher education and to build alliances to reinforce the competitiveness and governance of European universities.

It will allow for policy discussions and practical working sessions through two main events:

• A Conference on the 3rd of November on how to reach the goal of 20% of student mobility by 2020 while maintaining the quality of mobility flows
• An Open Space on the 4th-5th of November addressing topical issues of universities, students and stakeholders in the field of the modernisation agenda.

The agenda of the HEOS 2015 will focus on 1) student mobility as a means to achieve change in higher education and induce a sense of entrepreneurship to face a fast-changing society, 2) on digital higher education to provide new and innovative forms of learning and governance, 3) and on the social dimension of higher education as an essential element for inclusion and active citizenship.

The format of the HEOS will allow for both topical discussions during the conference, as well as working groups and sessions to discuss and ‘put pen to paper’ on specific areas/topics/projects of their interest. The event is designed on a human scale and geared towards maximum impact.
