The programme

Students who go abroad get better degrees and better jobs. Making it possible to cross visible and invisible borders is a task of a higher education institution to facilitate. Moreover for disadvantaged students, these borders are even higher and these students are underrepresented in mobility.

Are you a professional working in higher education in the field of internationalisation and inclusion? Yes? From 15 to 18 March 2022, the Office of International Policy of Artevelde University of Applied Sciences and the Support Centre for Inclusive Higher Education organise an international staff mobility week ‘Inclusive Mobility’.

This staff training week is designed to train university staff to assess the inclusiveness of their internationalisation processes and to design student mobilities that are more accessible for disadvantaged students. This staff training is supplemented by frameworks, assessment tools, case studies and toolkits that are implementable right away when back at the workplace.

By deploying experienced trainers from different organisations and countries, a tailor-made approach will be guaranteed. The recommendations, activities, instruments and toolkits being presented in this staff training have been developed by the trainers through European funded research projects and follow successful pilots. The staff mobility week will focus on the impact that these outputs and activities had in sending more disadvantaged students abroad, and to inspire all participants to make changes in their organisation.

How can I participate?

The programme is designed for professionals working in higher education in the field of internationalisation and inclusion.

Places are limited. The training can host up to 30 people from foreign countries with a maximum of 1 person per institution. The language of communication is English. Participants are expected to actively contribute to the different sessions. Each participant will be asked to present a poster about their institutional approaches to inclusive mobility. For this a preparatory abstract (maximum 2000 characters, including spaces) about the topic of the poster will be asked in the application form.

Interested participants are requested to complete the online application. Since the number of participants is limited, Artevelde University of Applied Sciences and the Support Centre Inclusive Higher Education will be in charge of the selection process, which will be based on the applicants’ letters of motivation, abstract and their occupational background.

Each participant will be asked to prepare a poster about their institutional approaches to inclusive mobility. For this, a preparatory abstract (max. 2000 characters, including spaces) about the topic of your poster will be asked in your application. You can contact Valérie Van Hees in case you have questions about what is expected.
