Intensive General English Training

The Erasmus+ Intensive General English Language Training course is available all year round. It consists of either 20 or 26 classroom-based lessons per week, and also includes an afternoon cultural and social programme with activities and excursions. The GE20 course includes 20 hours of lessons in the mornings while the GE26 course offers 6 additional lessons in the afternoons across 2 separate days (small group tuition).

Participants can have any level of English from A1 (Elementary) to C1 (Advanced) to join this course. These lessons involve a focus on the four main skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing), plus grammar and vocabulary, and a strong emphasis is placed on helping participants improve their communication skills. The week culminates in either a written test or spoken presentation.

Objectives:

- Improve your control and flexibility over a range of grammatical structures, vocabulary and functions to communicate ideas for a range of social and professional purposes and interact effectively.

- Communicate more effectively using appropriate pronunciation and intonation without being misunderstood or asked to repeat what you have said.

- Give a prepared presentation on a familiar topic with the main points, including such things as similarities and differences, explained with reasonable precision.

- Write straightforward connected texts on a range of familiar subjects within your field of interest.

General Information

The lessons take place in mixed nationality groups at our school in Dublin, with no more than 14 students per class*. Our teachers primarily focus on improving students' interaction (speaking and listening) and there is always a space for participants to voice their own ideas and exchange opinions with classmates. We also place a great emphasis on participants digging deeper into Irish culture, via safe discussion in our lessons, and activities and excursions outside the classroom.

Those studying GE20 have 4 half-day excursions and 1 full-day excursion on Saturday. Those on GE26 have 2 half-day excursions and 1 full-day excursion on Saturday.

Courses last for either 1 or 2 weeks and various accommodation options are available on request for participants throughout their stay.
