International Erasmus Staff Week: The Building Blocks of the Future

We’re at beginning of a golden age of AI. Recent advancements have already led to invention that previously lived in the realm of science fiction – and we have only scratched the surface of what’s possible. Today, artificial intelligence techniques are used in almost all areas of our lives, from agriculture to financial technologies. It is not possible to cover all artificial intelligence applications that can learn and reason with high accuracy using available examples in this workshop. In the workshop, we wanted to discuss successful applications of artificial intelligence in 4 different fields. These areas; they were determined as agriculture, health, financial technologies and international trade and logistics.

Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare: The complexity and rise of data in healthcare means that artificial intelligence (AI) will increasingly be applied within the field. Several types of AI are already being employed by payers and providers of care, and life sciences companies. The key categories of applications involve diagnosis and treatment recommendations, patient engagement and adherence, and administrative activities.

Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture: The global population is growing, expected to reach 10 billion by 2050, putting pressure on agriculture to produce more food. Two options to address food shortages have emerged: using more land for large-scale farming or using technology to enhance productivity on existing farmland. Modern agriculture faces limited land, labor shortages, climate change, and soil fertility issues. This has led to various innovative developments in farming. Technology keeps advancing each season to improve efficiency and harvests. Yet, many farmers and agribusinesses miss out on the benefits of artificial intelligence in agriculture.

Artificial Intelligence in Financial Technologies: Financial technology (FinTech) and artificial intelligence (AI) are two cutting-edge innovations that have recently altered the financial sector. AI can boost economic growth by 26% and financial services revenue by 34%. It is pivotal for FinTech’s rapid advancements, enabling financial institutions and businesses to analyze vast amounts of data, identify patterns, and make data-driven decisions efficiently.

Artificial Intelligence in International Trade and Logistic: The role of AI in logistics is ultimately to streamline operations across order processing, inventory management, supply chain and distribution in order to offer an enhanced customer experience. It can be used to automate routine tasks in order to reduce costs, improve efficiency and provide better customer service.

Participant quota is limited to 30 people. In the 4-day workshops, participants will present their work in these areas, exchange information and stay updated by sharing best practices. We hope that the workshop will provide maximum contribution to the participants in expanding their cooperation networks, creating new collaborations and internationalization. On the fifth day the city tour and cultural activities will be held.
