INTERNATIONAL STAFF TRAINING WEEK FOR INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS STAFF 2015

from 18 to 22 May 2015.

The Staff Training Week will take place in Oulu, in the capital of Northern Scandinavia, in Finland.

The week is intended for staff members working in the International Relations of higher education institutions either on central or departmental/faculty level. The focus of the week is on the following three main topics:

Topics

• Involving and Supporting Staff and Teachers in Internationalisation

• How to make Staff Mobility Visible in the Higher Education Institution?

• Components of a Teacher/Staff Mobility Learning Experience

• Preparing Outgoing Staff for Cultural Experience

• Experiences and Good Practices of Teacher/Staff Exchange Weeks

Participation

We expect from the participants active participation. Each selected participant will have to send to the organiser in advance a short description of the good practices and challenges of the internationalisation of staff in his/her own home institution together with a summary of the good practices and challenges of how to make staff mobility visible in his/her home institution. The deadline for the advance tasks will be announced to the selected participants in the acceptance letter. In the programme there will be also room for individual or group meetings with the staff members of the Schools/departments of Oulu University of Applied Sciences.

We invite you to an intensive week, where you have a good opportunity for training, sharing best practices with international colleagues, networking and socializing.

The working language of the week will be English. We would like to invite a maximum of 15-20 colleagues from our partner institutions, preferably one person per partner institution depending on the total number of applicants, in order to get an interesting and diversified mix. We also wish to offer an interactive and fruitful training. If there are not enough applicants from partner institutions, applicants from other higher education institutions can also be taken into account.

Programme and application

Please, see the preliminary programme at http://www.oamk.fi/staffweek2015 . Colleagues, who are interested, are requested to fill in an online application at http://www.oamk.fi/staffweek2015 .

The application deadline is by 28 February, 2015.

Costs

Participants will be expected to fund their own travel, accommodation, meals and other relevant expenses through their own institution’s funding. There is no participation fee. The welcoming dinner and farewell lunch are covered by Oulu University of Applied Sciences. International relations professionals working in higher education institutions can apply for Erasmus Staff Training Mobility grants to take part in this Staff Training Week. We advise you to contact your home institution’s institutional Erasmus co-ordinator and ask if Erasmus funding is available for staff training.

Selection of participants

We will select the participants after the application period has ended and inform the selected participants about the selection via e-mail by 6 March. A minimum of ten participants is required for the staff training week to be carried out.

Information on travelling, accommodation and other practical matters will be provided to the selected participants. The selected participants will be asked to fill in the Erasmus Training Programme form that will be signed by the sending and receiving institution.

Please, forward this invitation to the staff members who might be interested in joining us for this event and sharing knowledge, experience and best practices.
