The Faculty of Health Sciences and The Faculty of Arts of Palacký University Olomouc are co-organizing a short-term intensive programme (BIP) within the Erasmus+ programme.  The event interconnects health and social sciences in an interesting way, as it focuses not only on different research methodologies, which may differ across different disciplines, but especially brings insights into the care of vulnerable people from the perspective of health care, social work and volunteering. The sessions will be conducted partly in English and partly in Czech and Slovak, but to overcome the language barrier, the sessions will be simultaneously interpreted by our students of Translation Studies.

The International Week will offer an attractive programme of educational and social activities. It will include a conference of the Doctoral Programme in Nursing, where students will present designs and partial results of their dissertation research. Together with international mentors from Northumbria University, UK, you will be able to discuss nursing topics with an interdisciplinary overlap and gain new insights into mixed-methodology research and on the topic of drawing up questionnaires for participants in the research.

The social work part of the programme will focus of the homeless. There is a planned excursion to charity home, which has a unique complex system of social services for the homeless people, including a GP surgery and psychiatrist´s office. Included in the programme is a participation of an expert on “housing first” strategy and workshops focusing on social work and health care provided to the homeless, as well as a service for the homeless who are currently unable to manage their addiction, with the aim to provide them with the minimum decent living environment.

The physical part of the BIP will be at the Faculty of Arts, Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic between 14th October to 18th October 2024. The virtual component will complement the physical event, primarily occurring during our time together in October to ensure seamless integration and to address any technical concerns.

We offer participation to students, academics and other staff of your institution who would personally attend the programme in Olomouc.

  • The participants need to take part in the physical mobility activity (5 days) and the virtual activity.
  • Registration deadline, Friday, September 27th, 2024. For registration and information email marie.sieberova@upol.cz
  • Your registration will be considered complete only after receiving your Mobility Agreement for Training (STT) from academics and members of staff and Learning Agreements from students.  Results of the selection process will be communicated by October 1st, 2024.
  • The sending institution will HAVE TO register the participants from their institution in the Beneficiary Module.
  • If the sending institution won’t fund the participants mobility, they must choose to come on an Erasmus+ zero grant, and be registered in the Beneficiary Module as zero grant. In any case the participants must be registered in the BM! Institutional coordinators from the International Offices are familiar with this.

Costs:

  • The hosting university (Palacký University Olomouc) coordinates the organization of the BIP and receives the organizational support.
  • Travel and accommodation costs for participants are covered by their sending universities from their Erasmus+ funds (usually as a short-term training mobility within the KA 131). Accommodation book should be done by each participant on their own. We can offer help with booking a stay with a special discounted rate at OREA Hotel Arigone Olomouc for academics and members of staff or at the dormitories for the students (subject to availability).
  • The participants do not pay any participation fee.

Please contact the Institutional Erasmus Coordinator at the International Office (unless you are the institutional coordinator yourself) at your university as soon as possible, they will tell you how to apply for funding from the BIP/Erasmus+ programme of your home institution and they should help you with all the formalities. Please make sure that you book your plane/train/bus tickets for the whole event (5 days), not shorter.

Even though this may involve some paperwork both for you and for us, we hope it will make funding of your BIP participation easier for you and will allow all of us to benefit from a high-quality event.

Participants will, of course, receive all papers required by the Erasmus programme and a certificate proving their participation. At this point, it is important to negotiate with your Erasmus Institutional Coordinator in order to reserve finances (travel and subsistence) for your Olomouc stay as you must be financed through your sending institution.

We look forward to your participation in our BIP. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Please kindly inform us whether you are interested in participating and how many colleagues or students would like to attend.
