IRO Valencia 2015 is a five-day international coaching event that aims to improve the key professional skills of International Officers from ETSIAMN Partner Institutions. Participants will have the opportunity to work on their technical and social abilities in an authentic international setting.
Upon completing the course, participants will have strengthened their planning, leadership, management, team-building and decision-making skills, and increased their competence in University International Relations, both at institutional and personal level.
The event lasts 25 hours, divided into five hours of work sessions per day (Monday-Friday, 08:30 – 14:30). Fees: 300 € per person.
Small work groups are created along the scheduled activities. Sessions involve applied language and IT training, specific coaching workshops (theater, food & culture, media design), group dynamics, topic oriented seminars, team work, and a powerful human-based operative framework.
About the costs:
The 300 euros fee includes 25 hours of work sessions (2.5 Coordination + 7.5 Training + 10 Coaching + 5 Seminars), work materials, welcome paella meal and guided visit on the UPV campus. Optional extracurricular activities are not included in the above mentioned fee. Partcipants are expected to obtain Erasmus+ mobility grants from their home institutions to cover the travel, living and acommodation expenses related to their participation in the event.
Target group:
Target group is university staff (teaching and non-teaching) dealing with international issues, not strictly international officers working in exchange programmes' offices.
Programme items:
COORDINATION: Short group dynamics to ensure motivation and committment prior to entering every single work day. Participants may actively contribute to steer the work programme together with the local coaches
TRAINING: participants will select one intensive 7.5 hours-long course from the three following possibilities: Spanish for Beginners, Advanced English, Information Technologies.The approach of all three courses will be strongly applied, and targeted to the University International Office Staff profile.
COACHING: participants will select one ontensive 10 hours-long workshop from the three following possibilities: theater, food & culture, media design. The aim of the workshop is to have International Office Staff from different institutions intensively working together on small projects not linked to their own well known activities. Team work, creativity, efficiency, intercultural communication and other key profesional skills are expected to be reinforced through the workshops.
SEMINARS: around relevant topics related to the Int. Office Staff activities. For example; organization of short courses / summer schools, international students´recruitment, professional recognitions and promotion of Int. Officers,... Topics are still to be jointly defined with the registered participants, according to their preferences and our staff availability.
Overall topic:
Central topic of our coaching event will be "Human-based International Relations". All work sessions and scheduled activities will be approached from such point of view.
Work language:
Work language for all activities (but the Spanish Language training course) will be English
