ABOUT THE EVENT

Fostering Community through integration and communication is fundamental to promoting a cohesive community, encouraging exchanging ideas and experiences for a world interconnected by shared values. Clear and open communication channels enable individuals to understand each other’s perspectives, exchange ideas, and work towards common goals.

Integration helps fill gaps and build strong relationships within the university community. Likewise, integration enhances communication by creating an environment where individuals feel valued, respected, and included.

When people feel integrated, they are more likely to actively participate, contribute their ideas, and engage in meaningful discussions. This, in turn, leads to better communication and a more vibrant and dynamic university community. Communication and integration are interdependent concepts in a university setting. Effective communication facilitates integration, while integration enhances communication. Both are essential for creating a thriving academic environment that fosters growth, collaboration, and success.

Please feel invited to be part of this journey.

GOALS

Participants will have the opportunity to learn and debate topics with academics and experts with recognized work in Communication and Integration. In addition to the plenary sessions, there will be space for unique workshops, visits to the Rectory, and some companies. A visit to some emblematic places in Porto is also planned. This staff week will be an opportunity for staff from different countries and institutions to collaborate, share best practices, and develop new partnerships.

This staff week, will focus on the following main topics:

ABOUT FEUP

FEUP is located in the Asprela Pole of the University of Porto, an area designated as the Porto Innovation District. Concentrated within one square kilometer, this District is constituted not only by several faculties of the University of Porto and schools of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto but also by private universities, a central teaching hospital, an institute of oncology, and various national and international research institutes. With 50,000 talented people working here, it is primarily a technological location, where the strong presence of engineering technologies, health sciences, and entrepreneurship lend considerable impetus to the process of innovation.

ABOUT PORTO

The city of Porto, known as Cidade Invicta (invincible city), is the second largest in Portugal, the capital of the Porto district and the country’s northern region. Located along the Douro River estuary in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centers, and its core was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. The historic area is also a National Monument of Portugal. The western part of its urban area extends to the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean. Its settlement dates back many centuries when it was an outpost of the Roman Empire. Its combined Celtic-Latin name, Portus Cale, has been referred to as the origin of the name Portugal, based on transliteration and oral evolution from Latin. Porto elected Europe's Leading City Break Destination 2023.
