Summer Modules for Intercultural and Language Education (S.M.I.L.E) 2021

WHAT IS IT?

A two-week stretch of intensive language learning (French, English, Spanish, Italian); an introduction to the concept of "intercomprehension" as well as intercultural activities.

 

WHO CAN TAKE PART?

Any staff member from an international university who is looking to improve his/her level in foreign languages or willing to acquire new knowledge on specific topics such as intercomprehension.

The number of seats is limited and only 3 participants from the same university will be accepted.

 

WHERE?

In Chambéry. Several excursions and activities around Chambéry will be organized.

 

WHEN?

The program is divided into two weeks.

Please note that you do not have to stay the whole two weeks, you might just want to choose one course you like. In any case, pay attention to the courses dates if you do choose more than one!

WEEK 1 will start on June 21 (expected arrival of all participants on June 20) and end on the 25th or 26th (optional excursion) (expected departure on June 26 or 27)

The following courses are going to take place during this week:

- French as a Foreign Language (June 21 to 25, total duration: 20 hours)

- General English (June 21 to 25, total duration: 15 hours)

- Oral English (June 24 and 25, total duration: 6 hours)

- Written English (June 23 to 25, total duration: 9 hours)

- Spanish (June 21 to 25, total duration: 15 hours)

- Italian (June 23 to 25, total duration: 9 hours)

WEEK 2 will start on June 28 (expected arrival of all participants on June 27) and end on July 2 or 3 (optional excursion) (expected departure on July 3 or 4)

The following courses are going to take place during this week:

- English Teachers Training (June 28 to July 2, total duration: 12 hours)

- Intercomprehension in Romance languages (June 28 to July 2, total duration: 12 hours)

 

ACTIVITIES

- Many hours of courses with several group levels ranging from A1 to C1 (each course requires specific levels - see brochure);

- Visit of the historical cities of Annecy and Chambéry;

- Excursions to the mountains and/or lakes.

 

PRICE (depends on the chosen course.s - see the information brochure attached)

- INLCLUDED: tuition fees for courses, excursions, 3 dinners for the whole two-week stretch.

- NOT INCLUDED: accommodation, transportation to and from Chambéry, other meals (lunches and dinners), & all additional personal expenses.

- Optional excursion to Chamonix on Saturday June 26 and July 3 at an additional price: €40 each, including transportation to and from Chambéry + the entrance ticket to the top of the Aiguille du Midi. Meal not included.

 

ACCOMMODATION

We do not provide accommodation.

However, after your registration, we will recommend you some hotels with a good price/quality ratio in the city center of Chambéry to make your stay easier.
