In 2018 we are celebrating our 50th Anniversary and we invite you to take part in our 1st Erasmus Staff Week

John Henry Newman’s vision of a university was of a community of thinkers, with all staff and students coming together for a common cause. To these ends this staff week wishes to bring together academics, support and professional staff and students to assess the relevance of the idea of a university as a community for modern universities and to explore together actions and ideas that can help make it a reality. Newman also encouraged scholars to think differently and break down traditional barriers. We all have to take responsibility for putting aside our perceptions of each other, being open to mutual learning and committing to working collectively across traditional boundaries.
In the spirit of thinking differently we are organising the week in a slightly different way. The themes that we will work through will be developed over the course of the week, rather than being decided by us beforehand. This is a risk we know, but if we all take responsibility for making it happen, it will. It means that you get to pursue the ideas that mean things to you, but need to take responsibility for working these ideas through. People will need to be prepared to take responsibility for firstly bringing ideas, secondly for going through a democratic process to share those ideas and come up with common themes and thirdly taking collective responsibility for developing a vision for these themes to become realities.

To help form the content for the week we invite applicants to post ideas on our PadLet Wall https://padlet.com/elearning26/newman You can add ideas or comment on other peoples ideas.
