University Libraries in a Digital World

Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi is delighted to invite librarians from any of the practices within the field of librarianship in higher education and teaching and administrative staff interested in a better knowledge of the way libraries can meet students’ needs in terms of information, resources, services and skills in a globalized world where information is massively available without filter, to take part in the University Libraries in a Digital World Erasmus blended intensive programme, which will take place between 18 – 22 September 2023.

This blended intensive programme is meant to strengthen the academic and professional links between librarians, teachers, researchers, administrative staff and experts in the field of education in order to achieve their goals of excellence and inclusion, to facilitate the success of their students, towards more open, democratic, fair and sustainable societies.

Libraries are key actors in the process of rethinking and renewing education and research. They need to take transnational cooperation to a new level of intensity and scope and to develop a genuinely European dimension, built on shared values.

Some topics that will be discussed are: 

• The role of libraries in education and research
• Library as place for formal and non-formal education
• Visibility of library services and collections in learning environments
• Electronic library and digital repository
• Resource acquisition (online and traditional) 
• Library promotion and student-oriented spaces 

The programme will include:

• presentations
• workshops
• visits to the university libraries
• networking activities
• cultural events

Participants are expected to cover their expenses from the Erasmus+ grant provided by their home institution. The registration is open only to participants from Programme Countries (countries from European Union, EEA, Turkey, Serbia and Republic of North Macedonia).
