COIL for Staff, BIP and Beyond: New ways to Internationalize our Universities

From October 14th to 18th, 2024, CEU Cardenal Herrera University (Valencia, Spain) will host the international week titled “COIL for Staff, BIP and Beyond: New ways to internationalize our universities”.

With a typical BIP format (a virtual module + a week of physical mobility), this program is aimed at administrative staff in the area of International Relations who wish to learn more about virtual collaborative experiences.

How is it going to be developed?

In a hybrid format, which will include a previous virtual module, and which will culminate with a face-to-face week:

The virtual module will take place on October 8th and 10th, providing an initial approach to the COIL methodology and its objectives. An excellent way to break the ice, get to know the participants, and experience firsthand what a COIL is like!

The physical mobility will take place from October 14th to 18th and will include various sessions where we will deep into the tools, needs, and planning of a virtual mobility experience. We will also benefit from the learning of colleagues who have already participated in this type of projects, and we will exchange best practices.

Where will it take place?

The virtual module will be conducted through tools like Microsoft Teams or Zoom, and the physical mobility will take place at the main campus of CEU Cardenal Herrera University, located about 20 minutes from the center of Valencia by public transport.

How many spots are available?

We would love to have the participation of many colleagues! However, to ensure that the work sessions are productive, we have determined that the maximum number of participants will be 20. Preferably, non-academic staff affiliated with the International Relations Offices.

What can you expect from this experience?

Above all, a lot of knowledge exchange and sharing of best practices! Throughout the in-person week, we will intersperse theoretical sessions with participatory ones where we will address internationalization from the perspective of university services.

But we also pursue other objectives...

• Share the ABC of the COIL methodology
• Provide a comprehensive perspective on the virtuality options available to non-academic staff
• Value the work of administrative staff at universities
• Contribute to a vision of internationalization through intercultural dialogue
• Facilitate the acquisition of new skills by non-academic staff
